    What are the regular working hours in New Zealand?

    The usual working work in New Zealand covers 40 hours from 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday (with a 30-minute lunch).

    Vacation and illness

    Employees are entitled to a minimum of 4 weeks paid annual leave a year if they work regular hours full time or part time. Once you have worked at your job for more than 6 months, you’re entitled to a minimum of 5 days’ sick leave a year. However, some employers offer more depending on contract agreements.

    Termination

    Employees may be dismissed due to serious misconduct, repeated misconduct, during a trial period, for performance related issues, redundancy and incapacity. Employees have the right to request a written statement covering the reasons for their dismissal. If a request is made, employers must provide the statement within 14 days.
